How long have I been in front of the screen while writing this blog, and how long have you been on the internet before you came across this article I wrote? There is a word you probably hear a lot from your elders or relatives on this subject: DEPENDENCE
There are many kinds of addiction. I will explain this in more detail in my other articles. Addiction is a situation that we see a lot of, especially among the young population, including myself. Today I will try to talk objectively about how social media has drawn millions, maybe billions of people around the world to a screen in a very short period of time.
Most social media users do not feel addicted or associate the word addict with themselves. Users spend part of their lives on platforms such as social media, gaming, internet use, etc. and suffer from both psychological and physical health problems. But many do not even realize that this use is in an advanced stage.
It is also necessary to look from the other side of the glass, so why do users become addicted to this addiction? Looking at the world in general, it can be seen that Internet use is more addictive in societies where young people have less social activities, cannot live at a sufficient level of prosperity, and have a higher rate of unhappiness.. Especially in societies such as Japan, India, and Korea, which have made giant strides in technology, there seems to be a connection between Internet use and suicide rates, although it is not conclusive. It would be a mistake to attribute these cases solely to the Internet, and the demagogic internal dynamics of countries are among the other factors that determine these rates.
One of the most important problems that concerns us and our future is the rate of use among younger age groups. This addiction at a young age actually jeopardizes the social and psychological development of children. Although completely isolating your child from the Internet does not make much sense in our age, as with anything else, in this case you can give your child a sufficient amount to complete their development.
